ADAPT PA: Curriculum Development Program

Through the ADAPT PA program, PSC is working with partners at colleges and universities across Pennsylvania to enhance curricula, provide learning resources, and collaborate on new programs.

The goal of this program is to give students practical skills for the workforce and create tools that can be used by learners across the state. PSC will provide training, curriculum, and consultation services to educators and computing resources to educators and students.

What programs are supported?

We’re focusing on traditional coursework and credential programs in the following areas:

  • Data Analytics
  • Data Science
  • Computer Science & Information Technology

What does PSC provide?

  • Content modules for flexible integration into coursework
  • Instructor training sessions
  • Pre-packaged virtual machines per module, with datasets, software packages, and code samples included
  • Administrative and technological support

How can I get involved with ADAPT PA?

It’s easy! Email Megan Carroll at carrollm@psc.edu to say you are interested. Then:

Instructors and students will need software for connecting to Bridges-2:

  • Windows Users: MobaXterm (preferred) or Windows PowerShell
  • Mac Users: Terminal (built in application)
  • Linux: ssh (built in application)

FAQs

Is there a cost to participate in this program?

There is no cost to participants.

What background knowledge should faculty have to get involved in this program?

Faculty will benefit from having a basic understanding of Python. No additional prerequisites are required for faculty or students.

Can the content be adjusted to fit different courses or projects?

The content is flexible – the modules being provided account for approximately 6 hours of in-class time, but can be adjusted to fit existing curriculum or shorter lesson plans.

What modules will be provided?

Modules in basic data science and basic machine learning are being provided. Advanced modules and additional topics are being explored for late 2024.

How long is this program going to last?

We have plans to extend this program into spring 2025. However, once faculty and students gain access to our platforms, they will be able to extend this access beyond the lifetime of our program. In other words, we will provide resources as long as they are being used!

Are there internships available?
